Thoroughly Thursday - the "Smashed Cars" Edition

Welcome back to Thoroughly Thursday, the Smashed Cars Edition. One of the things I haven't spoken much about over the last couple weeks is that during our Spring Break trip we suddenly became car-less. In what may be one of the most over-the-top Almost April Fools Fails ever, on the evening of March 31st, a drunk driver crashed into our two cars when they were parked in front of our house. No one was injured (thankfully), but both of our Priuses (Prii? Priora?) were totaled. Luckily, everyone had insurance. I have to admit that if you are going to be in an accident, having it happen when your cars are parked and empty, and you're out of the country is one of the better ways to prove you're not liable.

What I'm Watching - A Past That Never Really Went Away
This last week I watched Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, based on the book by police officer Ron Stallworth about his experience as a black police officer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in the 1970s. Spike Lee isn't known for his subtlety, but the ridiculousness of the story leans directly into his strengths. Lead actors John David Washington (son of Denzel) and Adam Driver (son of Han Solo) are excellent as the dual undercover Stallworths. Keep an eye out for the many allusions to some of the charged political rhetoric of our modern era.

What I'm Listening To - the Soothing Sounds of the Post-Punk Impresarios
A few weeks ago, TT-friend Eric suggested I check out the Chromatics. Sporting an effortless cool, lead singer Ruth Radelet croons songs of love and loss in that dreamy way that makes you think you might have ended up in a David Lynch film. As it turns out, the director is a fan and included their work in the Twin Peaks revival. If you are looking for a small taste, check out their single "Shadow."

What I'm Thinking About - Well… It Makes For a Good Story
"Did you run into each other?"
- The Manager of Enterprise-Rent-A-Car when we arrived with not one, but two rental authorizations from our insurance company.

All the best, and remember, tomorrow is Friday. :)

P.P.S. Is it just me, or does Robert Smith now look like that creepy aunt you only see at funerals?

P.P.P.S Oh, I made some updates to my website. Let me know what you think.

P.P.P.P.S. I'm always on the lookout for new items to write about. If you notice something that you think would be worth sharing, send it my way.
